I’ve been Hinched. Haven’t we all. Right this moment all the knobs from my stove have been popped off with a teaspoon and are in a warm bowl of soapy water. Anyone who isn’t following her, probably should be. But if you’ve yet to jump on the bandwagon then don’t worry. I’ve got your back and have put together as many cleaning hacks as I can possibly find.
Cleaning hacks are a great way to save time, and keep your house as clean and tidy as possible. If, like me, you’re not the most organised or cleanest person in the world, these cleaning hacks might just change your life. The best thing about all of it is how cheap some of these products are! Most of them you can find in pound shops or other high street discount chains. But I get most of mine on Amazon! Super cheap. Super quick. And super easy cleaning hacks that can change your life!
Kitchen Cleaning Hacks!
Like any good hack, this list of cleaning hacks come with a set of unusual and hard to find tools and ingredients to get the best shine. So I’ve put this little shopping list together so you can find everything you need, spending as little as possible.
Clean your Microwave
Make this chore super easy by putting 1/4 of a cup of vinegar into a cup of water. Microwave this magic mix for five minutes and you’ll be able to wipe off all the filth in one easy swoop.
Save that Burnt Pan
I hate it when food gets burnt on to pans. Along with not being clean or tidy, I’m also not a great chef, so this is a common occurrence in my flat. Don’t worry though, you can get it off. Cover the burnt part with a layer of baking soda and then add water. Bring this pot to the boil and the burnt food will just lift off!
Sanitise your Sponges
Stick any manky sponge in the microwave for two minutes to kill any bacteria that shouldn’t be there.
Greaseproof your Oven Door
Dip a dishwasher tablet in some water, being careful not to soak the whole thing. Rub that all over your oven door and the grease will just wipe away.
Shine your Sink
It has been said that as long as you have a shiny sink, the rest of your house will look spotless. So what’s the best way to shine up some stainless steel? By rubbing cream of tartar on it of course.
If you need more than a shine from this list of cleaning hacks, try giving your sink a baking soda scrub down. Cover the surface area of your sink with baking soda, then use a toothbrush (or a sponge) to get into all the nooks and crannies. You’ll remove any odors and be left with a gloriously clean sink.
Blitz your Blender
Don’t waste time putting your blender in the dishwasher or washing it in the sink. Simply put a bit of washing up liquid and some warm water into it, and give it a blitz.
Revive your Gas Burners
This cleaning hack is a little more science. To get all that grease off your gas burner rings you have to put them in a ziplock bag with 1/4 cup of ammonia (buy it here). The gas burners don’t have to be soaking because it’s the fumes that work the magic. Leave the bag outside overnight, and then give the burners a rinse in some warm soapy water to remove any residue. Don’t worry, the ammonia is completely safe (as long as you don’t mi it with bleach).
De Rust your Utensils
Lemon juice is the queen of rusty utensils. Leave all your rusty metal soaking in lemon juice overnight, and watch the rust melt away.
Crumb Down your Toaster
Grab yourself a small pastry brush and get to work on all those nooks and crannies on your toaster. The bendy brush will dust any crumb spills off in no time.
Keep you Fridge Brand New
Wrap the shelves in cling film. Yep. Cling film. And just change it whenever you get a spill or leak. How simple.
Get Food off your Forks
You know what I mean. When, even after scrubbing, there are still small hard bits of food residue left on your crockery. All you need is a bit of tin foil, give it a little rub with some soap, and like magic the food will lift off!
