I want to buy a house. It’s a simple as that. And although it’s not exciting, I’m documenting here. On this little blog. Saving money is hard, and boring. I’m 24 and should be out and about, exploring and travelling. Instead I’m spending my time scrimping, saving, and earning… because I want to buy a house.
Why do I want to Buy a House?
Or a flat. I’m not biased yet. As long as I can get myself on the property ladder as soon as possible. I want to buy a house because I’m sick of renting. Essentially paying someone else’s mortgage. I want to buy a house because I’m going insane looking at beige walls. Why do landlords think beige is a nice neutral colour. What’s wrong with white? I want to buy a house because the sooner I do, the sooner I can start subsidising my income by renting out spare rooms.
In this blog you’ll find money saving tips and advice, information on the property market, my experiences trying to buy a house, and a whole lot of me babbling on about my life. Although I’m excited for you to read it, I’m doing this to stop me spending money on food really. It’s a great (time consuming) hobby, that keeps me on track to meet all my savings goals. It’s also going to be so good to look back and remember when I saved my first £1,000 when I’m actually holding the keys to my own home.
My whole journey is documented on this blog. Every 60+ hour working week. Every eBay sale. And every home owning aspiration I have. So I’ve broken it down for you into four categories. Earning, Saving, Spending, and Everything Else.
I’m a 24 year old full time waitress, part time student living in Bournemouth. It’s no surprise that people laugh when I tell them that I want to buy a house. But hopefully, someday soon, I’ll have a set of keys and a deed in my hand and I’ll be able to forget all about this penny pinching eternity I’m facing. Luckily for me, I love pasta, and pasta is cheap. So cutting down my spending on things like food will be easy. Unluckily for me I live on my own meaning everything is super expensive. Plus it’s hard to cook for one so I usually end up eating portion sizes for two or more.
